This will be an ONGOING, INTERACTIVE Exercise. You will need your "Bible".
I am using the "Old King James Version" of "The Bible."
I pray at the end of our journey, you will feel the deep humility of being a Christian, the depth of The Love of Almighty God, our Father and of our Lord and Saviour Beloved Almighty Jesus Christ for us as Christians. And "joy unspeakable" for the rest of your life here in Beloved Mother Earth (Terra Firma).
In discovering who we are as Christians, we begin with the definition of Gentiles.
If you are not of Jewish descent then according to "The Bible" we are Gentiles.
According to "Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of The Bible":
Gentile is found in "The Bible" in "The New Testament" 2 times defined as: 1672 - a Greek speaking person especially a non-Jew.
Gentiles is found in "The Bible" 129 times; 30 times in "The Old Testament" 99 times in "The New Testament."
"Gentiles in Hebrew is defined as: 1471 - Goy - pronounced - go'ee: a foreign nation; hence a Gentile - Gentile, heathen, nation, people."
"Gentiles in Greek is defined as: 1484 - Ethnos - pronounced eth'nos - a race (as of the same habit) i.e. a tribe; specifically a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually by implication pagan): - Gentile, heathen nation, people."
From "Smith's Bible Dictionary" - "Gentiles (nations). All the people who were not Jews were so called by them, being aliens from the worship, rites and privileges of Israel. The word was used contemptuously by them. In the New Testament it is used as equivalent to Greek. This use of the word seems to have arisen from the almost universal adoption of the Greek language."
From "Webster's New World College Dictionary" - "1. any person not a Jew; often specifically, a Christian 2. [Historical] among Christians, a heathen or pagan."
Gentiles first mentioned in "The Bible" - Genesis 10:5; last mentioned in Revelation 11:2
.
The Beginning: "Genesis 10:1 - "Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood." Genesis 10:2 - "The sons of Japheth;" See Your "Bible" for the names. Genesis 10:5 - "By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; everyone after his tongue, after their families, in their nations."
The Ending: "Revelation 11:2 - "But the court which is without the temple leave out (cast out), and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months."
NOTE: Revelation 11:2 is not referring to us as "Christians."
Now we will take our "First Real Look" as Gentiles at our Lord and Saviour, Beloved Almighty Lord Jesus Christ.
We begin this part of our journey in "The Gospel According to John", Chapter 1.
1. "In the beginning was the Word (The Son - Jesus), and the Word (The Son - Jesus), was with God (The Godhead - Father, Son, Holy Spirit)."
2. "The same was in the beginning with God (The Godhead - Father, Son, Holy Spirit)."
3. "All things were made by him (The Son - Jesus), and without him (The Son - Jesus) was not any thing made that was made."
4. "In him (The Son - Jesus) was life; and the life was the light (The Son - Jesus) of men."
5. "And the light (The Son - Jesus) shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended (over powered) it not."
9. "That was the true Light (The Son - Jesus), which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."
10. "He (The Son - Jesus) was in the world, and the world was made by him (The Son - Jesus), and the world knew (recognized) him (The Son - Jesus) not."
11. "He (The Son - Jesus) came unto his own (The Jews) and his own received him (The Son - Jesus) not."
12. "But as many as received him (The Son - Jesus), to them gave he (The Son - Jesus) power to become the sons of God (The Father), even to them that believe on his name (The Son - Christ Jesus):"
13. "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (The Godhead - Father, Son, Holy Spirit)."
14. "And the Word (The Son - Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
With this new information we can better understand: Jesus sayings on "light" in: Matthew 5:14-16; 6:22-24; 11:28-30. Luke 8:15-18; 11:33-36; 12:2-5; 15:7-10. John 3:19-21; 5:33-36; 8:12; 9:1-5; 11:9-11; 12:35-36; 12:44-50.
And on "life" in: Matthew 7:13-15; 10:32-40; 16:24-28; 25:28-46. Mark 8:34-38; 10:29-31; 10:42-45. Luke 8:14-18; 9:23-27; 12:15; 17:32-33; 18:29-30; John 4:13-14; 4:33-38; 5:24;-47; 6:25-71; 8:12; 10:1-18; 11:25-26; 12:23-26; 12:44-50; 14:6-7; 15:9-17; 17:ALL - Beloved Jesus' Prayer For Us.
We will end this session here.
I encourage you to "study" each passage. To receive more knowledge and wisdom, I encourage you to "study" the entire Chapter that contains the passage.
I also encourage you to take your time for you are as The Psalmist (King David) says: "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over." Psalm 23:5. Partake of your "Heavenly" meal.
I further encourage you to "study" out loud.
Involve ALL your senses, remember you are "studying" "The Living Word"
(The Son - Jesus).
Behold Him with your eyes.
Hear Him (The Word) speaking to you and through you with your ears.
Breathe in deeply His Holy Presence as "The Living Word".
Taste His Words as the Psalmist proclaimed: "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth" Psalm 119:103.
Feel The Life in "The Living Word".
Open your "Bible" flat on the table or on your lap and place your open hands upon It and feel "The Life" in It. It is "The Living Word".
You will notice that some of the Scriptures are repeated. Please do not skip them. By reading them you allow our Beloved Almighty Holy Spirit of God "The Honor" of building them into your spirit. He can then as our "Helper" bring them to our remembrance at just the "right time".
Thank you for allowing me the honor and privilege of sharing with you.
Until we meet again:
"The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:"
"The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:"
"The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace." Numbers 6:24-26.
In Christ Jesus Love, Victory and Covenant Service,
Sandra
